Better Pictures of OPI's Cajun Shrimp!

Here are some new pictures that I took of my nails (painted with Cajun Shrimp by OPI). These were taken with my digital camera (as opposed to my iPod Touch), so they are better quality. This also means, however, that you can see all the flaws!!! :O

Like I said yesterday, I did a pretty sloppy job with the manicure yesterday. My hands were so shaky! But, I tried to clean it up as best as I could. I am trying to learn how to get the gap look when painting my nails, as I believe that that looks cleaner and more professional. I got it down once, but haven't been able to do it again. :P I'll keep trying!

For some reason, my middle finger is not as smooth as the other fingers. Actually, now that I think about it, I know why. I got a speck of something stuck onto the polish when I was applying the top coat, so I hurriedly tried to cover it up with more polish instead of just redoing the nail. So, it looks worse than the others. Oh well - I'm not going anywhere really today anyway!

I love this color so much <3 I highly recommend it. I am loving OPI nail polishes. I just started using them and they are fantastic. Great formula and nice opacity. I'm in love!!!

Changed my nails again!

The Orly Buried Treasure chipped really quickly for some reason. So, I changed it up to a bright coral: OPI Cajun Shrimp! Here is a quick pic I posted to my Instagram (@missjoyfulk):

I will take some higher quality pictures with my digital camera in natural light/sunlight tomorrow so you all can get a better look (also, I will clean up a bit as I did a rather messy job!).

Overall, I am in love with this color!!! So happy I picked it up. I definitely am preferring brighter colors on my nails as opposed to neutrals/darker colors.

I want to experiment with some nail art next time I paint my nails. Perhaps something for St. Paddy's Day? :) We'll see if I can manage that - I am still very new to all of this! :)

Until next time......

A more neutral look!

Hey! I just finished painting my nails a new color. This time I used Orly's Buried Treasure :) The pictures below are in the shade and in the sun, respectively...

Something odd did happen while painting my nails with this color. The first four nails that I painted (on my left hand) ended up being a slightly lighter metallic version than the second set I painted (on my right hand). The set pictured above is the first. I am curious as to whether or not this has happened to anyone else. I am thinking that the polish settled a bit while I was waiting for the first set of nails to dry, making the polish come out differently later on. I'm not sure. But, the difference is not huge, at least not large enough for me to bother going back and re-painting some of my nails! But, despite this odd color change/difference, the polish did go on very nicely, consistency-wise. It was a little streaky after the first coat, but the second coat fixed that up fine.

Overall, I am liking this new manicure. I have been having very bold and/or bright colors lately, so it is nice to have something more neutral! We'll see how long this polish lasts :) I'll keep you updated!

OPI Pink Flamenco

Hello, all! Here is a higher-quality picture of my Pink Flamenco nails!

I absolutely love this color! It is a nice, opaque hot pink. The formula was terrific and the polish went on very smoothly. Unfortunately, two of my nails have chipped! :( So, I will be redoing them tomorrow in another color. I will try to take better pictures of that new manicure after it's done! Just wanted to share this new picture!

Hello, world!!! (First Post)

Hello there! Welcome to Katherine's Joy, my little corner of the Internet dedicated to all things makeup and nail polish!! :) I am a serious novice when it comes to these things, but I really wanted to create my own blog after being inspired by so many of the other beautiful beauty blogs out there. So, I created this website in the hopes that I can share my passion with you all!

As I stated before, I am quite new to all of this, so please bear with me. I am not the best at painting my nails (due to both my beginner status and to my essential tremors), but I am trying to get better! :) I have become completely addicted to nail polish and nail art. Here is what is currently on my nails!!...

I know that the quality is super crappy; I took the picture on my iPod. I plan on using my digital camera from now on to get higher quality pictures. :)

Here are some more pictures I took and/or posted to Instagram these past couple of weeks (@missjoyfulk -- add me!!)...

I'll go back and add which colors I used tomorrow sometime! I doubt anyone will see this post for a very long time (until I start posting more regularly!) but you never know ;)

Anyway, I'm going to go work on the layout for this blog for a while. Hope to post some more tomorrow (including a higher quality picture of my current manicure!)

Katherine
